Selling cassettes – honest, fair, nationwide
Tapes aren't dead. The opposite: indie labels press limited MCs again, punk and hardcore bands release demos on cassette, collectors hunt for old hip-hop mixtapes and 80s/90s audio dramas. At Second Music & Fun we buy cassettes – not just in Munich, but nationwide via shipping.
Send us photos of your collection via the buy-in form. We get back within 24–48h with an initial estimate. If it fits, we arrange shipping or – if you're around Munich – drop-off or pickup.
Each cassette valued individually by condition, genre, edition and demand. No flat-rate rip-off. Standard tapes from €1, sought-after genres (punk, hardcore, hip-hop, indie, metal) significantly higher, rare originals into triple digits. 25+ years of record-store experience behind every valuation.

FAQ
Do you buy outside Munich?
Yes, nationwide via shipping. For larger collections around Munich we also visit in person.
When is shipping worthwhile?
Rule of thumb: from 50–100 pieces. For rare genres (punk, hip-hop, metal, indie) even earlier. Send photos, we'll honestly say whether it's worth it.
Which tapes are especially in demand?
Punk/hardcore tapes, indie MCs, hip-hop mixtapes, metal demos, German new wave, krautrock, soundtracks and 80s/90s audio dramas. Sealed originals are always top.
How is the value determined?
Each MC is valued individually by condition (shell + tape), genre, edition and current demand. No flat-rate, no hidden deductions.
What about damaged cassettes?
Damaged shells are usually fine. Moldy or tape-damaged cassettes can't be bought – they damage stock and equipment.
Ready to let your tapes go?
Send us a few photos – we'll reply in 24–48h with an honest estimate.
